Meet the Artist

Dan Jacko

Metalsmith and artist Dan Jacko has loved the arts since he was a child. While other children would do summer sports, he enrolled in summer art classes with some of Pittsburgh’s most well known artists and cartoonists, learning the art of illustration from a young age.

When deciding on a university, he chose Edinboro University for their renowned arts program. While there, he met the professors of the metals department, and a love for jewelry was born. He graduated with a degree in Metalsmithing with a minor in Art History, giving him a unique historical perspective on every piece he creates.

After 20 years as a bench jeweler in several family run boutique stores, in 2021 Dan decided to open a home studio and launch his own line, Harp and Hound Jewelry.

The style of Harp and Hound Jewelry is inspired by antiquity and the natural world, and often weaves inspiration from Dan’s Irish heritage in the form of intricate Celtic knotwork.

Dan has now expanded to his own “brick and mortar” store in the Pittsburgh area, where he will brings his expertise for custom work, repairs, and fine jewelry to in-person and online customers.
